Lightly tin plated in a traditional manner. Characteristic ovoid shape, hand chased and tooled geometric designs. Early example. Lack of separately applied handle distinguishes age. The Ibrik is handled from the Kashkul boat-shaped top ornament. Ottoman Empire (Turkey), c.1700's. Measurements: Approx. 35cm high, 20cm diameter with spout, 14cm widest diameter. This copper ware is typical of the eastern and central Anatolian villages. The hand beaten metal work reflects traditional village design from the eastern plateau area. The copper ware often features simple, decorative pattern work and handles are made from iron or brass. This style of utilitarian-ware was used for water and each piece was originally lined with tin to protect the user.
